Latest Updates from Our Project:

Quartermaster Logistics, Shipping, Addresses etc
over 2 years ago – Thu, Nov 11, 2021 at 11:55:34 AM

Hey Everyone! Just hopping in to provide an update regarding shipping and everything after the last update where I discussed a good portion being shipped to the warehouse instead of the fulfillment center.

Indie Press Revolution (our warehousing partner) shipped the appropriate units and playmats to the fulfillment center where they will be processed. Domestic packages will be processed out of that location while while other countries are being fulfilled out of separate locations. Things are moving along, though. You all have been soooo supportive, so keep the faith. The games will be there soon!

ADDRESS CHANGES

I've made a number of address changes and provided them to QML, but our rep also assured me that they will send one last reminder/validation before shipments go out. Be aware that this will come from Quartermaster Logistics NOT BackerKit. If you are needing to make and address change, PLEASE keep an eye out for that over the next few weeks, and make sure to check spam folders.

PAX Unplugged

Wet Ink Games and Game and a Curry will be at Pax Unplugged and sharing a booth. We also have a demo space where we will be running games throughout the weekend. Banana Chan will be running multiple times AND we will even have artist Steven Wu there for a little bit during the convention. If you'll be there, please stop by and say hey. We'd love to talk with you and shake your hand, bump elbows and generally express our gratitude.

Damaged Units

The freight shipment from IPR to QML arrived today and they immediately checked for any damaged product. They do this as a standard step, and we actually build these into the production margin just in case damage occurs. You can see below the damaged ones they sorted out of fulfillment copies.  Some are just dent and ding, but others are pretty substantial. Again, this isn't out of the ordinary, but it always pains me to see damage to awesome products. I'm going to see if they can use some of these for any replacement parts that haven't been damaged, like dice, pens, etc, so it's not a total loss.

Quick Shipping Update and Banana and Sen's New Project!!!
over 2 years ago – Wed, Oct 27, 2021 at 08:04:13 PM

Shipping

Just a quick update on shipping for all of you! There was a slight hiccup in the freight shipping to Quartermaster Logistics with a chunk of the items needed for fulfillment accidentally being delivered to IPR. We've managed to get that squared away and QML should have all the stuff they need. The good news is we aren't missing any product and fulfillment is so close we can taste it! Check out these towers of product goodness!!!

Exquisite Crime Kickstarter

We also want to take moment and point out another design by Banana Chan and Sen-Foong Lim which is being produced by our friends over at Hunters Entertainment. This Kickstarter just launched on Tuesday and is approaching it's funding goal, but we feel we would being doing you all a disservice if we didn't at least point your way to another awesome game by these rockstar game designers.

SHIPPING UPDATE!!!
over 2 years ago – Fri, Oct 08, 2021 at 07:13:12 PM

IT'S A POST-CONVENTION MIRACLE!

Bao is happy too!

I mean, not to get too excited, but we just got the following information from our rep at Quartermaster Logistics:

  • The shipment heading to Indie Press Revolution is at the Oakland Container Freight Station pending overland transport to Nevada.  They are going to call to arrange a delivery appointment. (NOTE this also means that the shipment to the US fulfillment centers is pretty darn close behind. We're using IPR for warehousing, but they'll not be releasing it for order to retailers until QML starts their fulfillment).
  • The Australian shipment should have arrived at the fulfillment center by today.  They're currently experiencing some staffing issues, so they are operating at a reduced capacity but fulfillment is set to begin there the week of 10/18.
  • The shipment to the UK should arrive around 11/08, so fulfillment at Spiral Galaxy could begin as early as 11/22, barring any ocean delays, etc.
  • The shipment to VFI could potentially have arrived at VFI already.  They're also operating at a reduced capacity due to a mandatory COVID closure.  I've requested an update and hope to hear back by the end of the week.

All of this said, we were taken aback because all through GenCon and Origins we communicated to fans and backers that this was still waiting to be shipped from China, so this was a big pleasant surprise.

All of you who have reached out about change of address. I've forwarded those on to QML, so hopefully those address changes can be caught and corrected. One way or another, we'll make sure we get things resolved.

We'll keep you all informed as we move forward.

The Jiangshi are Escaping Into the World!!!
over 2 years ago – Tue, Sep 14, 2021 at 04:03:08 AM

Freight Shipping is Starting!!!

We FINALLY received confirmation from the factory and Quartermaster Logistics that Jiangshi has been palleted for shipment and should be on ships any day now. We've requested all of that tracking information so we can share that with you all and we can all follow the ships as they head to their respective distribution centers!!! We will pass along that information AS SOON as we get that. We're hoping that we can share that before GenCon and that they'll be on their way to the hubs by the time we get back!

So What Does This Mean?

Well, for you all this means that your games are on their way to the distribution hubs where they'll have their full list of addresses and fulfillment slips ready to go! The Steven Wu art prints are being sent directly to the distribution Hubs from a central location by Quartermaster Logistics, so they'll be ready and waiting too. Then, they'll be in your hands! The Kwanchai Moriya posters are all packaged up and are shipping independently of the other items, and they'll be going out the Monday we return from GenCon.

Just to show you that they're making their way out there, we wanted to share some pictures with you. We had some sent to us and to Game and a Curry via FedEx so we had a special delivery at 8AM today, while theirs should be in hand by Friday.

The morning light keeps the Jiangshi at bay

It's a Strange Time to be a Publisher...

We hope you all are as excited as we are, but we also recognize just how frustrating everything has been during the pandemic. There have been slowdowns at every step of the process due to factory closures, port closures, the delta variant, and even disruptions to our personal lives domestically.  We just want to say thank you again to all of you for believing in us. We've seen too many indie publishers take a hit that they can't recover from during this pandemic, and it's not over yet. The indie publishing community is so connected and supportive of one another that any of these losses is heartbreaking. When freight shipping ends up costing 10 to 12 times as much as it did prior to the pandemic, it's no wonder that some companies are having a hard time, and that's not even taking into account increases in manufacturing costs that are only continuing to rise.

Jiangshi, Wet Ink Games, and Game and a Curry were not immune to any of this. When people say "We're living in unprecedented times" they aren't joking. Unlike other companies whose projects had shoestring budgets and have been unable to deliver or are having to close, the amazing support for Jiangshi allowed us to be able to produce an absolutely gorgeous product while also absorbing those dramatic increases and completely unpredictable expenses out of our profit, and NOT by passing any added costs on to you. It sucks, and it hurts, but we'll keep making great products with the most talented designers in the industry despite these roadblocks. When it's all said and done, the industry will look a lot different, and no one is sure what the end result will look like when the dust settles.

That said, we'll be heading to GenCon this year and sharing the booth with the Indie Game Developers Network (IGDN Booth 108). It's going to look a lot different this year due to the COVID Protocols, the reduced number of vendors, and fewer attendees, but we're going to try to make the best of it. We're hopeful that through special convention bundles we have for some of our games that we'll be able to have a good convention that will help propel us through the rest of convention season and the end of the year.  We'll also be submitting Jiangshi for consideration for the Ennies, so keep sending us all the good vibes you can.
