Two More Mung Cards UNLOCKED!!!

We step away for a moment and BOOM, just like that you all blow by the next Stretch Goal and unlock two more cards for the Mung Deck, AND push us over one thousand backers for the project! We're awestruck and humbled at the response so far, but even more excited for what's coming up. Thank you for your continued support!

Before we get into what's coming up next, we want to point out a couple quick changes to the Stretch Goal tiers. PLEASE NOTE: These are not yet reflected in the graphic below, nor on the page, but they will be updated this evening. Here are the changes:

  • We added a $65k goal, and we've moved the upgraded character sheet there. This goal upgrades the standard paper character sheets and making them dry-erasable and reusable. We will be making the standard paper sheets in both a full layout version and a printer friendly version available as FREE downloads as well.
  • We have replaced the character sheets as the $70k goal with a set of 4 dry erase markers, like one would find in roll-and-write board games.

We'll discuss these goals and others in more detail as we approach and unlock them.

Speaking of unlocking goals, what's next? It looks like a scenario by Jeeyon Shim!

Jeeyon Shim

Jeeyon Shim (she/her) is an outdoor educator, game designer, and community facilitator based in Oakland, CA. She writes emotional, resonant games that are designed to guide players to (re)connect with the natural world, their communities, and themselves. In addition to writing for Jiangshi, she is also running a journaling game about time traveling through your own personal history, titled WAIT FOR ME (On Kickstarter HERE). Mabel Harper's Scenario UNLOCKED!!!

After another day of amazing support from the community, Mabel Harper's scenario has been unlocked for all copies of the game! Each day we see more outlets talking about Jiangshi, and a number of you spreading the word about your excitement for the game, which only continues to keep us moving onward! You all are fantastic. Thank you for all the comments and messages about what drew you to the game and what you all are excited to see. It's really inspiring knowing you all are as excited to get the game as we are to get it to you.

Next up, we have two more Mung Cards which will be added to the Mung Deck, and then things are going to really take off. We'll give you a sneak peek at what's coming up, but there may also be a surprise or two thrown in as well...

Two More Restaurant Cards UNLOCKED!!!

Another set of Restaurant Cards have been added to the Restaurant Deck for all copies of the game! We're astounded at the continued level of support for the game, and hope it keeps up throughout the campaign because we have some awesome goals coming up, and have even been in discussions regarding what happens if we get through the ones we have planned out. Let's just say you all will be very happy with the things we've discussed if things keep going well!

But let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. What do we have slated next? An additional scenario to be included, written by the excellent Mabel Harper!

Mabel Harper

Mabel Harper (she/her) is a terminally online musician, writer, and designer. When she's not writing the stuff of nightmares, she's probably making queer pop music as Don't do it, Neil. Or she might just be vegging out on her bed and watching K-pop videos with her cats.

We wanted to give you, the backers, a little bit of insight into some of the awesome and creative people working on Jiangshi: Blood in the Banquet Hall. Over the next few weeks, we'll be posting these quick interviews where Matthew Orr gives each guest the same five prompts:

  • Share a story about your work.
  • Share a story about your family.
  • Share a story about food/cooking.
  • Share a story about a monstrous experience.
  • Share a story about a dream.

Be on the look out for more of these as we move forward, but for now, enjoy!
